Air Freight

5.40 Airports in the South West carried 6,000 tonnes of freight during 2006 (see table). This represents only a small share of the total volume of freight carried at airports in England (0.3%); 58% of air freight is handled by the London airports. The volume of air freight carried by airports in the South West fluctuated between 1997 and 2005 and has recorded a very slight drop in growth over this period. This is against a backdrop of 18% growth nationally.
