Trends in British Crime Survey

9.16 The British Crime Survey (BCS) showed that the South West has significantly lower rates of burglary, vehicle theft, and violent crime, than the national average, as well as significantly lower risk of both household and personal crime. Although recorded crime has increased by 1% since 2005/06, the BCS found no significant changes in overall crime rates for these crime types and groups between 2005/06 and 2006/07 3 .
