Expenditure

10.15 The Expenditure and Food Survey provides detailed information on how households spend their money. Across most categories the pattern of spend is broadly in line with that for England as a whole. In the South West the greatest share of household expenditure is on transport (15%). This is slightly higher than the England average (14%) and reflects an increased reliance on transport in the region given its predominantly rural nature. Recreation and culture account for 14% of spend (England 13%) followed by food and drink at 10% (England 10%).
