11.56 Culture is all-pervasive and should not, and cannot, be separated from the wider life of the region. As an economic industrial sector, cultural businesses generate wealth for the South West and, through a range of activities delivered through the seven cultural domains, contributes to a perceived good quality of life and positive regional image. Culture is also an intrinsic component of everyday life – closely associated with skills and learning, planning, public health and sustainable environments.
