-In 2006 economic output (GVA) was approximately £90 billion.
-GVA per head was £17,500 ranking the region the most productive English region outside of the 'Greater South East'.
-In 2007 the region lost it's crown as the region with the lowest unemployment rate to Northern Ireland, although it remained relatively low at 4.1% (2007 Q3).
