The Somerset Local Intelligence Network (SINe) opened this year's events programme in July 2010 with an event exploring the possibility of a standard set of indicators under each of the ten dimensions of equality.
In September, this event was followed by a workshop, lead by the SWO Core Unit team, on understanding Local Population Projections. This looked at the challenges in calculating local projections as well as the different population projection models used whilst also considering what support the Core Unit could offer the network on this. For interactive slides and new population projection resources, see Population Projections.
Coinciding with the release of Quarter 3 GDP figures, October saw the Economy Module / South West RDA Economics Team lead a workshop seeking to 'demystify' economics for delegates from around the SWO network. This event looked at economics and economic development, measuring economic performance as well as the rationale for intervening in a market economy. For interactive slides from this event, see Economics Demystified.
