What will this cover?
This course will provide an introduction to the use of statistics and quantitative research methods. It will cover basic statistics and data types, displaying data and sampling strategies, before looking at basic analyses such as bivariate and the use of Confidence Intervals. The course will be part theory and part practice. Practical sessions will be run through Microsoft Excel.
The training sessions will be delivered by Carole Sutton. Carole teaches applied social statistics and quantitative methods on the MSc Social Research and across a variety of Health professional masters programmes at the University of Plymouth. Carole also teaches on the undergraduate Sociology and Social Research programmes. Carole has supervised PhD students who have used a variety of secondary data sources, two of these have been ESRC CASE studentships with Cornwall County Council using the LS data.
Who should attend?
Anyone new to research or analysis posts, who wants a recap on the theory/practice, or who works in the field but has not previously received any formal training.
How much does it cost and how do I register to attend?
The price for the event is £79 (VAT not applicable), which includes lunch.
