Biodiversity Information Part 2

The second tier of biodiversity information consists of the specific sites where biodiversity is conserved or legally protected. The various designations include: 
 
International Sites 
Special Areas of Conservation ( SACs)  
Special Protection Areas ( SPAs
Ramsar sites 
 
National Sites 
National Nature Reserves ( NNRs
Sites of Special Scientific Interest ( SSSIs
National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs). See the South West Protected Landscapes Forum 
Marine Nature Reserves. Lundy Marine Nature Reserve in the Bristol Channel was the first MNR in England. 
 
Local Sites 
Local Nature Reserves ( LNRs
County Wildlife Sites or equivalent. For example, see Wiltshire Wildlife Sites and Devon Wildlife Sites 
Various conservation organisation sites, such as: Wildlife Trust Reserves and RSPB Reserves
