Meeting are organised by the South West Observatory to help share ideas and best practice between those working on a range of research-related issues. RIG meetings are also an opportunity for individuals / organisations to showcase new pieces of work and to learn about new or emerging policy initiatives.

If you are interested in learning more about RIG, or attending future meetings, please email Sarah Hardwick.
The Regional Intelligence Group (RIG) has been convened by South West Observatory (SWO) since January 2011, taking over from Government Office for the South West. Meetings are held quarterly in Taunton.  Its membership, which includes a wide network of data producers and analysts in the region, brings together a broad range of individuals and organisations that share a common interest in improving their effectiveness in the collection, analysis and use of data and intelligence relevant to the South West.

RIG meetings bring together themed presentations around topics of interest to the research and intelligence community. Topics and speakers are generally suggested by network members.  In addition RIG meetings have regular updates from the South West Observatory, ONS Statisticians and other intelligence network members who brief members on a wide range of research and analysis work in progress and new data tools available. RIG meetings also have a regular information exchange section where all attendees have the opportunity to outline current and future work in which they are involved.
