The new Index of Multiple Deprivation 2007 (IMD 2007) is a Lower layer Super Output Area (LSOA) level measure of multiple deprivation, and is made up of seven LSOA level domain indices. Summary measures of the IMD 2007 are presented at local authority district level and county council level. The LSOA level Domain Indices and IMD 2007, together with the local authority district and county summaries are referred to as the Indices of Deprivation 2007 (ID 2007).
LAA Indicators
Local Area Agreements (LAAs) represent a radical new approach to the way local authorities and their partners can use government funding to support the implementation of national and local priorities in local areas. They are agreements struck between government, the local authority and its partners in an area (working through the local strategic partnerships) to improve public services.

Mid 2008 Population Estimates
NEW - Each year, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) produces sub-national mid year estimates of the resident population in the UK and its constituent countries, regions, counties, unitary authorities and districts. Mid 2008 estimates were released in August 2009.
Recession Monitoring
Here you will find a growing resource list of work carried out by South West Observatory partners in relation to economic downturn and its effect on the region. The first list refers to recession resources from the Local Authority perspective. The second looks at the issues from a thematic level.
Statistical Overview of Market Towns
This report gives an overview of social statistics of the urban areas of the South West with a population of 2,000 to 25,000. The work was originally undertaken on behalf of the Market and Coastal Towns Association (MCTA) to assist in the allocation of resources.

Supporting Evidence for Local Delivery (SELD)
The SELD pilot programme was introduced in 2005 to promote better use of data, research and evidence in neighbourhood renewal through the provision of technical assistance to Local Strategic Partnerships (LSPs) and neighbourhood renewal partnerships. Such support was regarded as key to improving planning, evaluation and decision-making, leading to greater gains in closing the gap on outcomes for disadvantaged neighbourhoods.
The South West Debates
The Regional Economic Strategy for South West England (RES) sets out a shared vision for the development of the region's economy to 2015 and provides a delivery framework to influence and guide what regional partners do.
Travel to Work and Urban Areas
This report presents headline findings from the Special Workplace Statistics (SWS) dataset of the 2001 Census for selected settlements of the South West.
