Local Authority Boundaries
Local Authorities in the South West
A note on boundaries
A note about sub-regional data and maps: On 1 April 2009, new Unitary Authorities were established for the former counties of Co3rnwall and Wiltshire. This meant the abolition of six district tier authority areas in Cornwall (Penwith, Kerrier, Carrick, Restormel, Caradon and North Cornwall) and four in Wiltshire (Salisbury, West Wiltshire, Kennet and North Wiltshire). Several sub-regional datasets are presented in the online and the printed versions of State of the South West, both in the text and as maps. Where possible we have used data that is available covering the new unitary authorities, however, some datasets and maps do make reference to the former boundaries.
