5.5.1 Figure 5.5.1 confirms the previous trend that the most common destinations for rail journeys outside the South West are London and the South East of England.

5.5.2 However, the importance of intra-regional connectivity must not be underestimated as the majority of rail journeys are to places within the South West. The proportion has increased from 57% of journeys in 2001/2 to 61% in 2008/09
